RD 933/2021, OF 26 OCTOBER – TRAVELLER REGISTRATION

Dear Guests,
In accordance with Royal Decree 933/2021 of 26 October, which establishes obligations for record-keeping and reporting for individuals or legal entities carrying out accommodation and motor vehicle rental activities, since 2 December 2024, all accommodation providers in Spain are required to collect traveller data and submit it electronically to the Department of the State Secretariat for Security under the Ministry of the Interior.

The purpose of collecting and transmitting this data is to prevent terrorism and other forms of organised crime.

Data reporting: Obliged parties must register individually and also register their properties, following procedures established by the Ministry of the Interior. All data required in Annex I (especially items 3 and 4) must be provided for each reservation.
Who are considered “obliged parties” under RD 933/2021?
All individuals or legal entities that operate or facilitate accommodation activities within Spanish territory.
What information must hotels provide to Spanish authorities under RD 933/2021?
Hotels must provide details about the property owner or managing company, the property being rented, the guests staying there, and the related transaction. Annex I of RD 933/2021 provides more detailed information on the required data.
How should this data be communicated to the Spanish authorities?
